Dear Parents/Guardians,
The season of Thanksgiving is upon us and as we reflect on our many blessings, we also think of those in our local communities who are in need. This year, more than ever before, local residents might be struggling to provide food for their families. The Aurora Food Pantry has been helping individuals in Aurora and north Oak Ridges to provide food to those in immediate need. In one year, the Aurora Food Pantry provided almost 7000 meals to individuals and families during their most challenging moments. All of this is made possible from the assistance of the dedicated volunteers who run the pantry and with the generous donations of non-perishable items from the local community.
Every month, the Pantry supports 600 residents, and almost 40% of those supported are children. In the spirit of giving thanks, we are asking each student to bring one food item to school.
The following items are items that the Aurora food drive is specifically in need of at this time:
- Pasta Sauce
- Pasta
- Cereal
- Crackers
- Juice boxes
- Baked beans
- Peanut free snacks
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruit
- Assorted legumes (dried or canned)
- Size 6 diapers
When making a food donation to the Aurora Food Pantry, please ensure that items have been checked and are within the Best Before period or have not expired. This first step reduces food waste at the Pantry.
Our Thanksgiving Food Drive will run from October 14th-29th, 2020. Let’s make a difference in the lives of many individuals in our local community!
“And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Thank you for your support and participation.
With gratitude,
Mr. Grossi & the OLG Luke 4:18 Committee
