Weekly Parent Update February 22-26

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It was a great feeling to see the students back at school again. The students were so happy to be back. With the support of our families, staff and students, we made it through our first week back of face to face learning.  Thank you for your patience as we all become accustomed to the NEW Stricter COVID-19 Protocols.  Please review this flyer Feb 12 Changes to COVID-19 Practices at School.pdf .  As part of the more stringent Public Health Protocols, parents must complete COVID-19 School and Child Care Screening Tool daily prior to sending their child(ren) to school. A Few Reminders:

Morning Arrival: students will be directed to enter the school and proceed directly to their classrooms upon arrival.

Grades 1-6 will enter through the Primary East doors at the back of the school, Grade 7, 8 and ISA students will enter through the Intermediate West doors and Kindergarten students will enter directly through the Kindergarten doors.

Students who arrive after 8:30 am need to use the main entrance and check in with the office staff.

Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (snow pants, boots, hats, mits). Indoor shoes are required. Extra socks are also suggested.

Due to Public Health Protocols, parents are unable to enter the building. We will meet you in the front if there is anything that needs to be dropped off.

Please continue to wear a mask while on school property.

February 24 Pink Shirt Day (Canada):  Students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt to show that they are against bullying and stand together for kindness!

Youth & Anxiety Parent Info Night March 3:  St. Joseph Aurora is hosting a virtual parent information night on March 3 titled, “Helping Your Child Tackle Stress & Anxiety”.  The OLG community has been invited to join this event. Lisa Wood from the Canadian Mental Health Association will be sharing strategies to help children deal with anxiety and promote health and wellness.  There will be a Q & A following the presentation.  The pandemic has been challenging for our children and this evening will be helpful for parents!  Check out the flyer: Helping Your Children Tackle Stress & Anxiety Parent Night Flyer March 3 7-8pm.pdf  Link to Google Meet:  https://meet.google.com/jxn-ueop-vhh
