Weekly Parent Update January 10-14

Our first week back was a great success. I’d like to thank the teachers, students and parents for a smooth transition to online learning. We were able to get technology into the students’ hands in a timely manner. We do realize the continued challenges of online learning for many families. Please be aware that we are here to support you in any way we can. If your child is struggling, be sure to reach out to your child’s teacher to explore options that would be more conducive to your child’s learning needs.

Please be mindful of the following:

  • All students are expected to join the Google Meet promptly at 8:30 am to meet with their teacher, begin with schoolwide prayers and announcements and review the schedule for the day. The Google Meet link can be found on the top of the Google Classroom homepage.
  • Student attendance will be taken twice daily in the morning and the afternoon.
  • Throughout the week, there will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction.  Please keep in mind synchronous learning can include Google meets and live interaction via chat or email.
  • If you still require a device, please fill in the following form Technology Request Form and we will arrange for a pickup.
  • Families looking for technical support during remote online learning are encouraged to visit our Call Centre website http://help.ycdsb.ca/vle.

Code of Conduct for Remote Students: On Friday, the board shared with families a Code of Conduct for Remote Students. Please take the time to review this document with your child(ren). Code of Conduct
